The Disclosure and Barring Service have recently announced that they will be reducing their certificate fees for Basic, Standard and Enhanced checks.
What will the new fees be?
|Type of DBS check||Current DBS certificate fee||Fee from 1 October 2019|
|Basic DBS check||£25.00||£23.00*|
|Standard DBS check||£26.00||£23.00*|
|Enhanced DBS check||£44.00||£40.00*|
*Disclosure Services admin fee not included in the fees above
Why have the DBS lowered their fees?
The DBS is committed to driving good value for money and ensuring that their fees are set appropriately, in line with managing public money principles. Due to an increase in demand, year-on-year efficiency savings and lower development costs they have been able review fees and reduce costs.
When will the changes take place?
The fees will change with effect from 1st October 2019.
The DBS have warned about the danger of ‘stockpiling’ applications until this price change comes into effect. A large influx of applications has the potential to delay the DBS process as the operations departments for both the DBS and Police Forces will not be able to keep up with demand.
Therefore we would politely ask our clients to continue to process DBS applications as usual.
What about the fee for the update service?
The fee for the Update Service will remain the same, at £13 per year.
Will this affect volunteer applications?
For Basic volunteer applications, the DBS certificate fee will be reduced from £25 to £23.
For volunteers that are eligible for a Standard or Enhanced application, the DBS will still waive their certificate fee so the only fee that you will pay is the admin fee from Disclosure Services.
